Wellness Works in Cenla
Alexandria, LA

This worksite wellness initiative will focus on rural and regional businesses in Central Louisiana to increase employee programs for physical activity, proper nutrition and healthy lifestyle behaviors including smoking cessation. The project expands a pilot program begun with five local companies that showed 30% participation at some companies, engagement at all job levels including management, and changes such as new food choices in the cafeterias and vending machines. Local leaders note that a community-wide emphasis on a healthy workforce may help attract more businesses to the region.

Church Nurse Program
New Orleans, LA

The Church Nurse Program is a holistic healthcare ministry. This program trains Registered Nurses to be placed in churches to coordinate wellness programs that provide health education, screenings, health promotions, referral resources and pastoral care for congregations and communities. We are seeking to expand our program from 17 churches to 37 churches.
