Minnesota Community Health Worker Project
Description:
To address critical health care workforce issues a statewide coalition of public higher education, rural and urban health care systems and major payers created the Minnesota Community Health Workers Training Program. Through a standardized accredited curriculum they will offer articulated pathways within the health professions, new employment opportunities, and recruitment from the low-income and first-generation communities to be served including Native Americans and Southeast Asian, Latino and East African immigrants. The curriculum includes field-based components and gives credit for the professional experience of currently employed Community Health Workers.
