What
are the meetings on Wednesday afternoon, 10/15/2008?
2:00-3:30 PM Projects focused on Youth at Risk
Wednesday afternoons offer an opportunity for colleagues to get together to share challenges, new program ideas and technical assistance. This year a new cohort of project staff who are working with Youth at Risk will meet for networking and a program planned by several project directors. The meeting is open to all who are interested in the topic, whether or not your LFP grant is devoted to youth.
For the last few years, the Mental Health projects have organized their own pre-meeting. If anyone would like to help plan the Youth at Risk meeting or organize another group, please contact LFP deputy director Curtis Holloman.
2:00-4:00 PM Funder Meeting
This program is only for local funding partners. We will reflect on lessons learned about local/national philanthropic partnerships over these 20 years of LFP experience, and look forward to Robert Wood Johnson Foundation future plans for the Local Funding Partnerships program.
3:30-4:30 PM New Grantee Communications Seminar
This session is only for staff of projects from the new grants that just began in 2008.
1:00-5:00 PM Evaluation Seminar, Part II
This session is only for grantees who attended Evaluation Part I in Chicago in April 2008.

May
we bring more than two people from our project?
Grant funds from your LFP project budget
have been allocated to cover the travel,
lodging and related expenses for two
individuals -- usually the project director
and a staff person.
If you would like
to bring a coalition member or other community
partner as a third person, please call
the LFP office (609-275-4128) to see if we can accommodate
this request. You would also need to identify
the resources to pay for a third person.
Of course, your funding partners are always
welcome at their own expense.

As
a new grantee is there anything
else I should know?
Plan to arrive in plenty of time to attend the New Grantees Communications Seminar on Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 PM. “What’s My Headline?” will highlight strategic opportunities to introduce your project and to promote your work over the next few years. You will also meet your colleagues from the other new projects.
Workshop
Questions:
Can
more than one person from the same project
attend the same workshop?
People from the same project are
encouraged to attend different workshops
in order to bring home information and
materials from many sessions. You may
want to schedule a staff meeting when you
return so you can each share what you
learned.
Return
to Questions Menu
Are
these skill-building workshops open to funding
partners?
Yes, funders are welcome to attend any workshop.
In addition there is a private funders meeting on Wednesday afternoon.
